About Us

United Way of Clare & Gladwin Counties

We are a non-profit that raises money during a campaign season by working with local companies through payroll deduction, or through individual fundraising efforts, that usually takes place during the Fall months. Then we turn around and allocate the dollars raised to local non-profit groups in the Spring. The non-profits, in which we support, must benefit the health, education, or financial stability of the residents of Clare and Gladwin Counties. Their programs must fall into one of those categories in order to be funded by United Way. The dollar distribution is decided by a panel of volunteers that live and work in the communities in which the money is raised and in which the money will be used.

Mission

We work with community partners, donors, volunteers and business leaders to create positive change in our communities.

Vision

Individuals and families receive the assistance they deserve.

Sarah Block

Executive Director

At United Way, I help to organize the fundraising efforts for local non-profits in our community. I love working with the community and addressing the critical needs of our friends and neighbors.

Past work experiences have been in the dental field. My last job before starting at United Way in May 2018, was working for a non-profit dental center. Needless to say that helping people is in my blood. I have attended Mid Michigan College, Delta College, and CMU with focus areas in Science and Math.

What I love most about my job is hearing from our partner agencies (local non-profits) to see what they are doing to help the people in our community and in what ways they have used the funds that we have raised for them. Hearing the client success stories and knowing that I was a part of the fundraising efforts that led to that outcome is the absolute best part of my job.

In my off time I enjoy spending time with my family and friends. I enjoy shopping, being outdoors, and teaching my girls new things. I am married to Zack and we have to little girls; Lena and Delilah. We can’t forget about our goldendoodle; Bubba.

Mona Keeley

Administrative Coordinator

Mona is a life-long resident of Clare. She attended Central Michigan University, where she received her Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology with a minor in Family Life. Mona has worked with United Way since 2003. During that time, she has held several positions within the organization, including Volunteer Center Director, Community Impact Coordinator, Administrative Coordinator,  and Bookkeeper. Mona truly enjoys and has a passion the work she does for United Way and the coordination between United Way and their partner agencies. It’s inspiring, one donation can support so many programs, in which a panel of community members determined how best to use the funding.
