News and Events Adopt-A-Family in Clare County this holiday season 10/24/2018 4:01:47 PM %

Are you looking to give back this holiday season? You can bring holiday joy to families in need through the Clare County Christmas Outreach Adopt-A-Family Program.

Adopting a family is an easy way for folks to help out members of their community. Information regarding families available for adoption, including information on the age, size and needs of each family member, is collected at United Way of Clare and Gladwin Counties.  All you have to do is provide gifts for each family member, and all the fixings for a Christmas meal or a food certificate from a local grocery store.

Sponsoring a family is a wonderful way to feel the true spirit of Christmas, and makes a great project for families, office groups, organizations, clubs and schools, or anyone dedicated to seeing families with children receive gifts who might otherwise go without during the holidays.

Families range in size, and you will be able to request any size family you are able to accommodate. All families receiving assistance from the Adopt-A-Family program are screened by the Clare County Department of Health and Human Services.

If you are interested in adopting a family this Christmas, please contact United Way of Clare and Gladwin Counties at 989-386-6015.

Miracle Minutes help kick off campaign season 10/24/2018 3:59:43 PM Over $1500 raised during Miracle Minute Fundraisers

United Way of Clare and Gladwin Counties is thankful to everyone who helped kick off this year’s campaign season by giving during our Miracle Minute fundraisers during recent football games at our local high schools

On Sept. 14, Farwell Eagles fans raised around $280, while Harrison schools donated $100 from their 50/50 held the same night.

Gladwin High School’s Key Club raised over $102 during the Miracle Minute held at their Sept. 28 game against Roscommon.

The final two Miracle Minute fundraisers were held Oct. 12 in Beaverton and Clare. Around $265 was raised in Clare, with an additional $130 donated from their 50/50 raffle; and $634.88 was raised at Beaverton High School during the Battle for Butch. That means more than $1000 was raised that night in one minute between the two fundraiser events.

In total, more than $1500 was raised in Clare and Gladwin Counties during these Miracle Minute fundraisers. United Way of Clare and Gladwin Counties is so appreciative of the amazing campaign “kick off,” and thanks everyone who chose to Live United at these events!

"We are so grateful for full participation this year during our football Miracle Minutes,” said United Way of Clare and Gladwin Counties Executive Director Sarah Block. “It was a great success! We love working with our local schools, and we’re looking forward to next year."
